Heupel hopes to overtake Weinke

ESPN.com

With just one week left, it's Josh Heupel's turn to show he deserves the Heisman Trophy.

Heupel has been less than spectacular in the last three games -- throwing six interceptions to just three TDs -- and had an OU career low 154-yards against Oklahoma State.

Heupel will need a solid effort to pass Florida State's Chris Weinke in ESPN.com's Heisman Poll. Weinke received five first place votes and 41 points. Heupel is second with three first place votes and 34 points.

Purdue's Drew Brees had one first place vote and 21 points. TCU's LaDainian Tomlinson if fourth with 18 points and Northwestern's Damien Anderson is fifth with eight points.

The Heisman Poll features nine ESPN coaches, analysts and writers, and will appear weekly during the season. Panelists are asked to vote for their top five and players are awarded five points for a first-place vote, four for second and so on down the line.
