Mississippi State's LaToya Thomas was named the SEC's Player of the Year on Wednesday as the league named its all-conference teams and awards. LSU's Seimone Augustus was named Freshman of the Year. The honors were chosen by the league's 12 coaches. Thomas and South Carolina's Jocelyn Penn were unanimous All-SEC first-team members. Tennessee was the only team to have multiple first-team honorees as both Kara Lawson and Gwen Jackson were selected. Vanderbilt's Chantelle Anderson rounded out the five-player first team. Tennessee's Pat Summitt was named SEC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in her career. The Lady Vols finished the regular season with a 26-3 overall record and a perfect 14-0 conference record.
