(Editor's note: Texas Tech senior forward Plenette Pierson, a former Big 12 Freshman of the Year, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.) Feb. 10, 2003
During this week off, we worked on rebounding and switching all picks on the perimeter. Well, the Iowa State game rolled around on Sunday. We were very energized for this game because we had not played all week. During the game we had a full team effort in the win. Everyone was given the opportunity to play and came in strong. At the end of the first half, we had held Iowa State to 17 first-half points. We also held the Cyclones to 23 percent shooting from behind the arc. We ended up winning the game 70-48. Jia Perkins ended up with 19 points and Miklannet Tennal I each had 12 points. It was a great win over a great team. We are now 19-2 on the season and 8-1 in the Big 12. We had another great crowd at the United Spirit Arena. They were really loud, which helped us in our win over Iowa State. The support we get from our fans is amazing. We have the best fans in the country. It was also nice to have a big crowd (more than 13,000 people) since we were on ESPN2. Can't wait to give you guys a recap of next week's action as we go up against Texas A&M at home on Wednesday and Baylor in Waco on Saturday. And Coach Sharp needs just two more wins for her 500th victory. See ya next time. For more on Pierson and Texas Tech, visit the Lady Raiders' official athletic site. |
