(Editor's note: Purdue junior Shereka Wright, a 5-foot-10 forward and All-Big Ten first-team pick, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.) Nov. 25, 2002
In those two games we learned a lot about our team. We learned where our team is strong, and we also discovered some areas where we need work. But I noticed something special about our team, and that is our freshman class. I have to say that this class is a very hard-working and talented group. They (six players) come to practice every day knowing they have to have their thinking caps on because our coaching staff probably will bring a least six more plays to practice. :-) I feel so sorry for them on days like those, when they're still trying to remember the last six from the day before. In all honesty, though, they really do a good job of learning everything they need to. Even though I know it can be frustrating at times, they stay focused, and that is why I respect them so much. Another thing about this group is that they all have a sense of humor in their own way. In my later diaries, I will tell a little about each one of them. So, to Sharika, Ashley, Sabrina, Carol, Missy and Brianna, I want you to know that I'm honored to be your teammate. Keep up the good work! Bye!
