NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse had a screw inserted into his broken left foot Monday, and could return in six weeks. Kearse broke the fifth metatarsal bone, located on the outside of his foot, on the second play from scrimmage Sunday in a 27-24 victory against Philadelphia. He immediately reached for his foot after hurdling teammate Henry Ford while chasing Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. "It was not a serious fracture,'' Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. "The screw was placed there just to stabilize it and speed up the healing process.'' The three-time Pro Bowl defensive end has never missed an NFL start in his first three seasons, a stretch that reached 49 games Sunday. He has had 36 sacks, which trails only Michael Strahan of the New York Giants (37) during the past three seasons. Kearse was not the only Titans player injured in Sunday's game. Tight end Shad Meier dislocated his shoulder, running back Robert Holcombe strained his hip, and linebacker Randall Godfrey and tight end Erron Kinney hurt their ankles. All four players had MRIs on Monday. Fisher said receiver Derrick Mason was fine Monday after suffering a mild concussion Sunday, and quarterback Steve McNair and cornerback Samari Rolle each had bruised thighs. |
