HONOLULU -- The NFL's best players wrap up the 2001 season on Saturday with the annual Pro Bowl. Each day this week, we'll ask players for their thoughts on a certain topic.
How surprised were you that the Patriots beat the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI?

LaVar Arrington
"I actually thought that the Patriots would win. I just feel like in football it's a justice when a team like the Patriots wins the game. It keeps people realizing that football is a spot where anything can basically happen on any given Sunday. In different sports you can expect teams to win it all the time. But in football it doesn't matter. Anybody can lose on any given day."

Hugh Douglas
"I wasn't surprised at all. I know Bill Belichick from when I was with the Jets. I know what kind of guy he is and he probably stayed up for four days figuring out different schemes to attack the Rams with and he did it. I knew they were going to have a chance to win and they came in ready."

Jeff Garcia
"I think everybody was surprised. I really believed that the way the Rams were playing most of the year, especially the second part -- their defense was playing great, offensively they were explosive -- they were just so well rounded. I didn't think that New England would be able to do much against the Rams' defense, which they really didn't. But it was the Rams' offense that wasn't able to do what they're normally capable of doing, and that was the difference."

Sammy Knight
"No, I wasn't surprised at all. I knew the Patriots matched up really well with the Rams. I knew that they had capable corners and that the only thing that the corners had to do was be a little more physical than they were the first time they played them and they'd have a chance to beat them. They came out and they made more plays than the Rams did and that's why they beat them."

John Lynch
"I've learned in this league that you're never surprised. I thought the Rams would do it, but I also thought the Patriots would give them a good shot. The Patriots really came together as a team and you could see that they kind of had that chemistry going and, most importantly, they believed."

Chris Samuels
"That was a big surprise. But I'm proud of them. My teammate in college Rod Rutledge (Patriots tight end), he got a ring before me. But I can't be mad at him for that. They worked hard for it and they did it."

Larry Whigham
"Not exactly, because I knew the matchup was going to be determined by the Patriots' defensive backs versus the Rams' receivers. What everybody didn't know is that the Patriots actually have four starting cornerbacks, and that's what you need to beat the Rams. With Terrance Shaw and Terrell Buckley playing the slot, along with Ty Law and Otis Smith, I knew that they would pose a challenge to the Rams. I been talking to my boys from New England all week and I knew that they were ready. I made a little wager between my two brothers, who are going to have to pay up Wednesday when they get here, because they went with the Rams just like everybody else. They actually gave me seven points."
