Second-round flashbacks
Scott Mellanby
Mellanby captained the Panthers to the Cup finals in 1996.
St. Louis' Scott Mellanby is the king of rats. Or at least the creator. On Oct. 8, 1996, while with the Panthers, Mellanby one-timed a rat that had invaded the locker room. His two-goal performance that night was dubbed a "Rat Trick" by John Vanbiesbrouck, now with the Devils, and started the trend of tossing rats at Miami Arena. The vermin flew with ferocity during the second round that year, when the Panthers upset No. 1-seeded Philadelphia in the second round.
