| Here are your responses from last week's Page 2 Power Poll:
Bring on the Yankees. Nothing will be settled by April 2 if Pedro Martinez stays healthy. Page 2 rules! Mike Riley Quincy, Mass. Right on with the Heels. They're picking up three sets of nets this year -- 1) at the Dean Dome after going 16-0 in the ACC and sweeping Duke, 2) in Atlanta after winning both the ACC Regular Season and Championship game and 3) in Minneapolis after Forte wins Player of the Year, Final Four MVP, and their first of several future titles with Matt Doherty. Wyn Bryant Gainesville, Fla. I know this Power Poll is a joke when you don't see the courage, heart and character of the Sixers and rate their momentum as "peaked, heading down." Hello?! Best player in the league, best coach in the league, best record in the league. If you know anything about the Sixers, they will only get stronger. Brett Adams Horsham, Pa. Maryland should be at the bottom of everyone's list. All that talent folded for Duke and hasn't got back on track since. Gary Williams, we know you can coach and motivate your players ... are you gonna start soon? Allen Plangklang Austin, Texas Have you not been watching Maryland basketball lately? How could it not be one of the top disappoints of the week/year? Tim Fairfax, Va. Where's the Magic at, winners of eight in a row? Darrell Armstrong and Tracy McGrady have been lighting it up, come on. Casey Penn Florida Yanks clinch AL East April 2? Granted, they have the best starting pitching in the majors, but they have an aging team (injury questions as well) and haven't done much to bolster their lineup. Boston has a formidable lineup with the addition of Manny Ramirez and healthy starters. Pitching is a question mark but the starting lineup can only get better than last year (no 10-game winner other than Martinez), and the bullpen is still strong. They finished only a couple of games behind New York last season. Toronto also has a shot -- barring a new deal with the White Sox (can't recover from loss of David Wells with injured Mike Sirotka). J.B. Boston One game does not a championship make. The last time I checked, in order to be the "best" you have to beat the best! So what that Sixers won last night, the Lakers had beaten them already this year in L.A. Also, any player who takes 30 shots a game as Iverson does should score 30-40 points a game. Shaq is still my MVP. Just wait until he's healthy; like in the playoffs! Chris V. Hatchell Lompoc, Calif. I really don't believe the 76ers are on the way down. This latest stomping of the Lakers along with Allen Iverson's raised playing level along with his raised leadership (even though it's not where it should be) are just some of the factors that prove the 76ers are not only on their way up but straight to the NBA Finals. Stephen Smith Alma, Ark. Being a UNC graduate and die-hard fan, I was elated to see the Heels at the top of the poll. As a matter of fact, they've been at the top of every poll I've seen lately. I just hope they aren't content at being No. 1 at the end of the regular season. They have the talent, the coach, and the team to be able to beat anyone in college basketball, at home or on the road. I hope they prove it in the tourney. Mark Meliski Atlanta I agree with the views on the Heels and the Sixers. But, come on, you got to give KU some credit. They are still a good team. Chance Cobb Englewood, Colo. The Tar Heels are definitely the team to beat right now! Sure they don't rack up the 40 point wins like Duke, but they know how to win the close ones and are never out of it. They stick to teams like ... well, like Tar. Jason Latour Atlanta The Illinois men's basketball team is tearing through the Big 10 like it ain't no thing. Pounding Michigan State, which by the way is the most overrated team this year besides the Lakers, going to Purdue and sticking it to em, then knocking Wisconsin down the polls. No matter what people say, Illinois is still the most underrated team in the Top 25. Ben Willis St. Charles, Ill. Love seeing Big Slew on there -- the old man deserves a little lovin' on Valentine's Day! Great to see a horse racing related thing on the Top 10! Jen College Park, Md. The Tar Heels have become stronger every game. They definitely should be moving up even though they are No. 1. The team has improved every game. John Berry Kinston, N.C. Your Top 10 polls have blatantly ignored Michigan State's hockey team (24-3-4). MSU has been ranked No. 1 for 11 straight weeks, and their sophomore goalie, Ryan Miller, just broke the NCAA career record for shutouts (17) that stood for 70 years. His Pedro-like GAA (1.24) and save percentage (.952) are amazing. Ryan and the Spartans certainly rate a spot on your next Top 10 poll. I'll be watching! Steve Sayre Seattle Where's the love for the San Jose Sharks, man? Leon Burstein San Jose, Calif. I think that you should show some love to the 'Cuse and the Big East. The Big East is just as tough if not tougher than the ACC. When they have the conference battles, they should have the ACC vs. the Big East. Brian Bath, N.Y. How can you say the 76ers are headed downhill? They've been held together with duct tape and bubble gum all year -- they've hardly even played yet as a "whole" team. I truly believe they'll only get better. They'll all be getting perfectly healthy just in time to be deep enough to beat Portland in the finals. Bill Moore Newtown Square, Pa. How can you leave off the 'Cats. UK has beaten both Florida and Tennesee (twice) and are atop the SEC East. Give Tubby Smith and the boys some respect for turning it around. Josh Lexington, Ky. Watch out for the Big Blue. Kentucky hit 21 threes against Tennessee in their second big SEC win in a week. They're unbeatable right now (unless of course they were to run into the Heels). Casey Hart Chapel Hill, N.C. You say the Tar Heels at the top of your list. What about them Kentucky Wildcats. Who beat the Tar Heels at home. Tar Heels, smarheels, they don't want any of those Wildcats anymore. I know that as soon as the Tar Heels get to the tourney they will flop. David Lexington, Ky. Awesome Baby, Awesome! It took a PTP'er to put this together and look, the cream rose to the top, baby! Mel Barrett Fort Myers, Fla. |
