Stuart Adamson is found dead Dec. 16 in his hotel room near the Honolulu International Airport. Adamson was the lead singer and guitarist for the Scottish rock band Big Country, which scored its biggest hit, "In a Big Country," in 1983. City coroners ruled Adamson, 43, had a high blood-alcohol level in his system when he hanged himself. |

On Jan. 29, the Memphis Grizzlies announce that Bryant "Big Country" Reeves is retiring. After a stellar career at Oklahoma State, the 7-foot tall center was the first player ever drafted by the expansion Grizzlies in 1995. Back then the team played in Vancouver, which is in Canada, the world's second biggest country in terms of land mass. Grizzlies fans everywhere always suspected that Reeves had high blood-lard levels.
