| Associated Press COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Five-time U.S. men's champion Todd Eldredge bruised his back after colliding with another skater and falling Saturday during practice for Skate America. He was still expected to compete in the free skate program Sunday. Eldredge, the 1996 world champion, was skating backward during a footwork sequence when he collided with Silvio Smalun of Germany and landed on his back. The medical staff treated Eldredge for stiffness. Eldredge was fifth after the short program Friday after falling on his initial jump, a quad toe-double toe, and later on a routine triple axel. | ALSO SEE Italian pair grabs ice dancing title at Skate America Russia's Yagudin wins men's short program Eldredge begins run for Olympic redemption | |||||
