AUCKLAND, New Zealand -- Top seed Anna Pistolesi of Israel cruised, while second-seeded Eleni Daniilidou survived a scare to advance to the semifinals of the ASB Classic on Thursday.

Pistolesi, the defending champion, had little trouble with American Jill Craybas, cruising to a 6-3, 6-1 victory.

Pistolesi will meet Yoon Jeong Cho of Korea in the semifinals of this hardcourt event. Cho moved on after edging Russia's Vera Zvonareva, 7-6 (7-3), 1-6, 6-3.

"She doesn't miss much," Pistolesi said about Cho. "She hits it flatter than I do, with not as much spin."

Daniilidou of Greece rallied for a 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) victory in her quarterfinal match with fifth seed Paola Suarez of Argentina. Daniilidou will face Switzerland's Emmanuelle Gagliardi in the semifinals.

Gagliardi got past Laura Granville of the United States, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
