PERTH, Australia -- Serena Williams and James Blake beat Belgium's Xavier Malisse and Kim Clijsters in doubles Friday to take a 3-0 record into the Hopman Cup final against Australia.

The Americans, who will face Lleyton Hewitt and Alicia Molik on Saturday, edged Malisse and Clijsters 10-5 in a super tiebreaker after taking the first set 7-6 (6) and dropping the second 6-3.

In singles, the top-ranked Williams beat Clijsters 7-5, 6-3, and Malisse tied it by beating Blake 7-6 (6), 6-2.

''She held me up,'' Blake said of Williams. ''She was playing great and told me to keep my head up. I have a little problem with hanging my head sometimes, and she did a great job of keeping my spirits up and even got me to smile quite a bit on the court.''

Hewitt is the top-ranked men's player in the world,

''I don't care if I'm playing Lleyton Hewitt or Pete Sampras,'' Williams said. ''I'm just here to play tennis. I'm just here to enjoy it and have a lot of fun.

''I'm looking forward to taking on Australia. It's something I've been looking forward to all week. Alicia has been playing really well here. The crowd's not usually for me anyway, so that doesn't bother me.''

Blake is looking forward to his match against Hewitt after twice taking the Australian to five sets in the U.S. Open.

''I haven't quite gotten the win, but I feel I have a pretty good game to match up with his and I think I've got as good a chance as a lot of guys on tour to beat him,'' Blake said. ''He's No. 1 in the world, but he's human and definitely beatable.''
