  • Helped Slovakia win its first Hopman Cup title -- teamed up with Karol Kucera, the pair played through qualifying to reach the main draw and defeated France in the final.

  • Won both her matches, wins over Dominque Van Roost and Sabine Appelmans, to lead Slovakia over Belgium in Fed Cup play to qualify for 1999 World Group I.

    1997

  • After reaching final at Linz, became one of the world's Top 10-ranked players, checking in at No. 10, the first player from Slovakia to reach the elite ranking -- also topped $1 million in career prize money.

  • Lost to Chanda Rubin in the finals of the Austrian Open in February.

  • Has advanced to the semifinals of three tournaments this year.

  • Soared in the world rankings with five upsets over players ranked in the top 10.

  • Reached the first two tournament finals of her career, losing to Steffi Graf at the German Open and Anke Huber at Luxembourg.

  • Upset Martina Hingis and Huber at French Open en route to first-ever quarterfinal appearance at a Grand Slam event.

  • Upset Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, who was then ranked No. 3 in the world, in the second round of the Lipton Championships. It was Vicario's worst defeat since 1988.

  • Was seeded at Wimbledon and U.S. Open after injuries forced other seeds to withdraw.
