Individual leaders: Senior IF Eric Bruntlett is batting a team-high .406 (13-for-27) in the postseason. Junior OF Joe Borchard (.389, 7-18, 2 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI) was named Most Outstanding Player in regional action. Junior RHP Justin Wayne (14-3), the Pac-10 co-Pitcher of the Year and a first-team All-American, has a 3.08 ERA in 131.1 innings. Junior RHP Jason Young suffered first loss of season in super regionals.

News and notes: Experience is a plus as CF Edmund Muth and 3B John Gall have been starters at three CWS. This season, Stanford went 7-6 against fellow College World Series teams (4-2 against USC, 1-2 against FSU and 1-1 against both San Jose State and Texas); eight of nine starters are hitting better than .300; six players drafted in the June 5 amateur draft, including Wayne, the No. 5 overall pick (Montreal Expos).
