OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- After a stellar performance both at the plate and in the circle, the Amateur Softball Association, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, announced today the selection of University of Florida's Jenny Gladding as National Collegiate Player of the Week for the week of April 14-20.

The junior from Palm City, Fla. had one of the best weeks of her career. She pitched a complete game no-hit shutout against Tennessee and hit the game winning home run to help her own cause in the bottom of the sixth inning. The no-hitter was her first in a Gator uniform and third in her career. She only allowed two runners to reach base the entire game, giving up only one walk while striking out 12 for her sixth double-digit strikeout performance this season.

In the second match-up, Gladding started at first base where she tallied six putouts. It was the first time all season Gladding played a defensive position other than pitcher. In the final game of the series, she returned to the circle to pitch her second consecutive complete game shutout and struck out nine batters. From the plate, she was 2 for 3 with a double and finished the weekend with a 1.000 slugging percentage and a.556 on base percentage.

Up next the Gators battle the No. 14 Florida State Seminoles in Gainesville, Fla. on April 23 before returning to conference play at home versus Mississippi State, April 26-27. The USA Softball National Player of the Week is designed to acknowledge outstanding athletic achievement by individuals on a weekly basis. Each recipient of the USA Softball National Player of the Week Award will receive an engraved plaque and will be national recognized for their accomplishments.
