DURHAM, N.C. -- Mike Dunleavy, while keeping open the possibility that he might stay at Duke, plans to make himself available for the NBA draft on June 26.

		Even though Mike Dunleavy is the latest Duke starter to enter the draft -- following Jason (or Jay) Williams and Carlos Boozer -- there's still some hope for Duke fans. Dunleavy, a junior, didn't sign with an agent and thus could return to campus in Durham, N.C. My gut feeling is that he's testing the waters, and rightfully so. A consensus second team All-American, Dunleavy indicated that he will not retain an agent, therefore giving him the option to return to Duke for his senior year.

"It has always been my dream to play in the NBA," Dunleavy said. "I want to exercise my right to see where I stand in this year's draft so that I can make an informed decision for myself and my family."

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said he was "in full support of Mike's decision. I will try to help him make the best decision possible."

Dunleavy averaged 17.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.3 steals as a junior in 2001-02. His career scoring total is 1,371 points, 28th at Duke.

Dunleavy was one of only six players in the country to receive votes for the Associated Press National Player of the Year award. He also was a second-team Academic All-American, a first-team All-ACC selection and a first-team ACC All-Defensive Team honoree in 2002.

Duke was ranked No. 1 in the nation 20 weeks during Dunleavy's three seasons with the Blue Devils, including 14 weeks in 2001-02 when Duke finished 31-4 overall and earned its fourth straight ACC Championship.

The Lake Oswego, Ore., native has until June 19 to remove his name from consideration for the NBA draft in order to retain his eligibility for his final college season.
