| Professor Snape |
We're putting together a special version of Page 2's Casting Call -- although we're reversing our usual Casting Call procedure. In other words, we'll show you the actor from the "Harry Potter" movie and describe his or her personality, and then we'll ask you to match that character with an appropriate figure from the sports world.
Below is our choice and the best nominations sent in by readers. Continue choosing the cast by voing for the best candidate to portray Professor Snape. Voting at left will take you to the next page of nominees.
Professor Snape is nasty to Harry and his friends -- prone to punishing them severely for minor infractions (or made-up ones) of the Hogwarts code -- very friendly to Harry's enemies, including Draco Malfoy. An expert in the Dark Arts.
Next week, we'll run the winning cast of athletic celebrities as selected by you.
Who should play Professor Snape?
|
 |
Jeff Van Gundy
Page 2's pick.
|
|
 |
Bobby Knight
"Prone to punishing them for minor infractions." Oh, come on, this has Bobby Knight written all over it. Watch for chairs flying across the rooms.
-- Jeff, Allentown, Pa.

Pat Riley
Why not Van Gundy's predecessor, Pat Riley? The strict practices in Miami seem to fit Snape's character. He's like Van Gundy only meaner. The only drawback is that apparently he'd have to change his mafia hairstyle.
-- William Woods, New York

 |
Al Davis
He's dirty as well, and he already seems to have the same Hogwart barber as Malfoy.
-- Tom Hajduk, Pittsburgh, Pa.
