ESPY Q's: Pick your dream team? Page 2 staff |
The Lakers have put together a dream team for next season, with four potential Hall of Famers (Karl Malone and Gary Payton joining Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant) in the same lineup. If you could assemble a dream team in your field of work, who would make the squad?
Tony Gonzalez, Kansas City Chiefs tight end: Rich Gannon. Priest Holmes. Roy Jones Jr. Mike Tyson -- just because he would scare people. I would also want Jennifer Lopez to distract people. I think that's a pretty good team. Maybe throw Salma Hayek in there, also. Gary Payton, Los Angeles Lakers point guard: Instead of the three guys that I'm going to play with? Well, for an all-time team, I'd take George Gervin, Magic Johnson and Wilt Chamberlain. Dennis Haysbert, actor, "24": Wow! All right, my dream team. Let's go for it. Sydney Pottier. Montgomery Clift. Samuel L. Jackson. Lawrence Fishburne. Angela Bassett. Kate Hepburn. Audrey Hepburn. Lawrence Olivier. Lisa Leslie, Los Angeles Sparks center: Katrina McLean. Theresa Edwards. Dawn Staley. We would win it all. George Lopez, actor and comedian: I'd put Jamie Foxx on there. Chris Rock. I'd take Richard Pryor as my sixth man. I'd put Cheech and Chong at point guard. I'd get Gallagher for a Dennis Rodman kind of feel. He'd come in at the end and mop up. Carmelo Anthony, Denver Nuggets forward: Magic, Bird, myself and Mike Jordan. Moses Malone. What a team! George Gervin, Pro Basketball Hall of Famer: I'll take Kareem, Moses at the power forward, Julius at the three, Magic at the point and Ice at the two. Michael Vick, Atlanta Falcons quarterback: It would be me, Shaq, Karl Malone, Gary Payton and Kobe Bryant. I want to be on the Lakers. Warren Moon, former NFL quarterback: Magic Johnson would play point, Larry Bird would be my power forward, big Wilt Chamberlain in the middle, and Hakeem Olajuwan at the four, and Michael Jordan, of course, for my shooting guard. I'd roll out some balls and say go play, guys. Win for me. Omar Epps, actor: It'd be me, of course. We gotta get somebody good with the talks, maybe Bill Clinton. And we need somebody good with money -- Ted Turner, maybe. Or LeBron, now that he has signed his deal.
Keyshawn Johnson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver: Jerry Rice, Joe Montana and Marcus Allen -- from an offensive standpoint. Now, from a defensive standpoint, I'd want to have Ronnie Lott. Marcellus Wiley, San Diego Chargers defensive end: Eric Dickerson, fo' sure. John Elway, fo' sure. And the last one is tough, but I would have to say Bruce Smith. I had to go defense with the last one. Kato Kaelin, actor, comedian former O.J. Simpson houseguest: Bill Maher for stand-up comedy, because he's a very good friend, and he's the funniest guy in the world. Sean Penn, great actor. And Alana Ambrose, because she's a female who's just beautiful." Baron Davis, New Orleans Hornets point guard: Michael, Magic and Kareem. No doubt. We'd have everything we need. Tommy Maddox, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback: The thing that's hard about my position is there can only be one quarterback. There are a lot of great quarterbacks that I'd like to have the chance to play with, and I got to play with a great one in John Elway. I'd definitely take Jerry Rice because he's the greatest wide receiver to ever play. I'd put Franco Harris behind me to get a Steeler in there. And let's just leave that last spot open because I don't want to make anyone angry -- there are a lot of great ones out there, including two of the guys I play with right now. Steve Lavin, former UCLA men's basketball coach: Are we talking basketball players? Because I was going to say Bogart, Cagney and George Raft and Edward G. Robinson. And we'd be tough. We'd be a scrappy, full-court press, run-and-trap team.
