Page 2's Power Poll
Page 2 staff

Page 2's Power Poll dares to rate the teams that are currently wielding the most power in the entire sports universe.

Each week, our poll will rate the 10 teams at the top of the power heap -- and the five teams that have lost the most power in the past week. And, by the way, Page 2 uses its own definition for a "team" -- any group of two or more bonded together for the common purpose.

Our Momentum Meter also predicts the direction these teams will be heading in future weeks (see the bottom of the page for a full explanation).

If you've got anything to say about our Top 10 or our Bottom 5, click here to comment -- or forever hold your peace. We'll run the best comments with next week's poll.

1. All golfers not named Tiger Woods Joe Durant I am Joe Durant. Or you can call me Thomas Bjorn -- I made Tiger look shockingly human on final hole of the Dubai Desert Classic.

2. Stanford men's hoops Stanford Now more comfortable at No. 1 after avenging only loss to UCLA.

3. UConn women's hoops UConn Is that Sue Bird any relation to Larry?

4. Colorado Avalanche Colorado Avalanche Hit a little bump in OT loss to Sabres, but Colorado is on a 6-2-1 streak and has points in its last seven.

5. Philly 76ers Philadelphia 76ers Strutting through East with league's best record and showing no fear of big, bad West.

6. New York Yankees New York Yankees Pitching's so hot, even Sid Fernandez looks great.

7. James Gandolfini & Family James Gandolfini We're just following orders here. Gandolfini's "Sopranos" began its third season to raves, and "The Mexican" was No. 1 at box office.

8. Charlotte Hornets Charlotte Hornets Winners of seven straight are closing on Central-leading Bucks and East-rival Knicks for home-court in first round.

9. San Jose Sharks San Jose Sharks Sharks + Finn = Soup-er. When he returns from knee injury, Selanne will satisfy San Jose's hunger in playoffs.

10. Hot-shot scorers Jackie Stiles Jackie Stiles becomes leading scorer in Division I women's history, and Marvin "The Magnificent" O'Connor scores 18 points in 59 seconds for St. Joseph's in its loss to La Salle.

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: AFC West teams, Duke men's and women's hoops, Michigan State men's hoops, Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards "Air" management

4. Aging former boxing champs Evander Holyfield John Ruiz finished Evander Holyfield and Don King's dream of another Holyfield-Tyson worth watching.

3. New York Rangers New York Rangers Theo Fleury's substance-abuse problems -- and a 5-2 loss to awful Isles -- end any hope of playoff push.

2. A-Rod and his image Alex Rodriguez Who needs friends when you've got $252 million coming to you?

1. Baltimore Orioles Baltimore Orioles Belle's hip isn't only thing degenerating in Baltimore.

Mo' Meter explained:
