| What was Jeff Nelson thinking? Page 2 staff | ||
There's a lot of strange stuff happening in the world of sports -- and in the real world, for that matter -- so Page 2 is here once again to try to make sense of all the weirdness with another edition of "What the Heck Are They Thinking?"
What was Mariners reliever Jeff Nelson thinking when he placed bone chips from his elbow up for bid on eBay? (The auction was quickly removed from the website after bids reached $23,600 because of eBay's policy prohibiting the sale of body parts.) A. "These babies have got to be worth a lot more than a chewed-up piece of gum." B. "This is a heckuva lot easier way to make money than snapping a naked picture of Ichiro." C. "The fine print says they couldn't be used for cloning purposes ... so I figured I was OK ..." D. "... Hey, who would want to clone a 6-foot-8, red-headed middle reliever anyway?" E. "... I mean besides George Steinbrenner." F. "Wow, $23,600! Imagine what Edgar Martinez could have gotten for that hunk of his unused hamstring."
