NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Juan Espinal drove in three
runs and Shea Hillenbrand went 3-for-5 with two RBI to lead the
Trenton Thunder to a 9-6 victory over the New Britain Rock Cats.
Espinal hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning and added an RBI
triple in the seventh. Hillenbrand, who has seven hits in his
last 13 at-bats after suffering through an 0-for-24 drought, led
off the fourth inning with a homer and added an RBI double in
the fifth. Angel Santos ripped a two-run double in the seventh
inning for Trenton, which won for just the fourth time in its
last 17 games. Brian Barkley (1-3) gave up three runs and seven
hits over five innings to pick up the win. Bobby Kielty went
4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a homer and two RBI for New
Britain, which lost for the eighth time in its last 11 games.
Matt Kinney (1-1) surrendered five runs and nine hits in 4 2/3
innings to suffer the defeat.
