ALTOONA, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Chad Ogea tossed seven strong
innings and Scott Hunter homered as the Akron Aeros downed the
Altoona Curve, 6-2. Ogea (1-1) allowed two runs -- one earned --
and five hits, striking out five, to earn his first win in three
starts. Hunter gave Akron a 2-0 lead with a leadoff home run in
the third inning. Mike Edwards hit an RBI single and Chad
Whitaker went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored for the Aeros,
who won for just the fifth time in their last 13 road games. J.D
Brammer pitched two innings of scoreless relief to notch his
first save. Adam Hyzdu launched a solo homer and Rob Mackowiak
delivered an RBI base hit for Altoona, which has dropped five of
its last eight games. Kevin Pickford (0-3) yielded five runs --
three earned -- and six hits over 3 1/3 innings to take the
loss.
