NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Brian Fuentes threw seven scoreless innings and Juan Thomas launched a three-run homer as the New Haven Ravens blanked the New Britain Rock Cats, 9-0. Fuentes (2-1), who did not allow a run over seven innings in his previous start, scattered seven hits and struck out three to earn the win and help New Haven post its second shutout in the last four games. Thomas gave the Ravens a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning with his second home run of the season. Greg Connors went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI singles and Adrian Meyers smacked a run-scoring double for New Haven, which has won five games in a row. Michael Cuddyer and Shane Gunderson each had two hits for New Britain, which was shut out for the first time this season. Losing pitcher Corey Spiers (0-4) was rocked for nine runs and 12 hits over six innings.
