ALTOONA, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Kevin Haverbush hit a homer
and drove in three runs and Derrick Lankford had tw hits and two
RBI to lead the Altoona Curve to a 8-1 victory over the Akron
Aers. Lankford and Haverbush hit back-to-back RBI singles in the
sixth inning as Altoona had six consecutive base hits and pushed
across four runs to take a 4-1 lead. In the seventh, Lankford
stroked an RBI double and Haverbush followed with his third
homer of the season. Luis Figueroa had three hits for the Curve,
who out hit Akron, 12-6. Sam McConnell (3-1) picked up the win
in relief, allowing one run -- none earned -- and five hits over
five innings. Scott Hunter had the only RBI for the Aeros, who
have lost three of their last four. Clint Sodowsky (1-1) gave up
four runs and four hits over one inning to absorb the loss.
