SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Armando Rios is at his best when Russ Ortiz pitches.

Rios homered off the right-field foul pole and drove in four runs as the San Francisco Giants beat Montreal 6-2 Monday night, extending the Expos' losing streak to five.

"No matter what happens, when he pitches I want to be in the lineup, even if it means a little fight with Dusty," a smiling Rios said, referring to manager Dusty Baker.

Rios has hit four of his five home runs when Ortiz pitches, including a three-run drive off the left-field foul pole at Pittsburgh on May 2.

Ortiz (5-1) won his third consecutive decision, allowing one run and five hits in seven innings with six strikeouts. He is 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA at home this season.

"I'd say he's the lucky charm," Ortiz said of Rios. "I'm just doing my job. I won't be mad at him if he wants to keep doing it."

Aaron Fultz, San Francisco's third pitcher, finished with hitless relief for his first save since last July 20.

Milton Bradley had three hits for the Expos, who stranded nine runners.

"We had numerous, numerous chances to get on the board," Expos manager Felipe Alou said. "We get the bases loaded and we strand them. Somebody has to hit a double or a home run like Rios did."

The game drew 38,249, the smallest crowd at Pacific Bell Park, which opened in April 2000.

Montreal's Tony Armas Jr. (1-5) didn't give up a hit until Barry Bonds' two-out single in the sixth. Armas wound up allowing four runs, three hits and three walks in six innings.

Armas, who retired 10 of his first 11 batters, had a no-hit bid broken up in the sixth against the Chicago Cubs on April 10 and lost that game, too.

"Tony pitched well, but he got tired and left some pitches up," Alou said. "He's not getting a lot of run support."

This game was scoreless until the sixth, when Ortiz walked leading off, took second on Bonds' single and scored on Jeff Kent's single.

"That was huge," Rios said of Ortiz's walk. "Not only great pitching, but a great at-bat."

Ortiz down played the at-bat.

"I'm just glad I got on base and gave the other an opportunity to swing the bats," he said. "I felt like we would get to him somehow."

Rios followed with a three-run homer.

"I thought it was foul the whole way," he said. "I didn't see the ball. I lost it. Another inch, and it's foul."

Montreal's Geoff Blum scored on a wild pitch in the seventh on Ortiz's 0-2 delivery to Curtis Pride with two outs. Vladimir Guerrero made it 4-2 in the eighth with an RBI single against Felix Rodriguez.

Bonds hit a run-scoring infield single in the eighth off Graeme Lloyd and Rios had an RBI grounder off Scott Strickland.
