AUCKLAND, New Zealand -- Alinghi of Switzerland and OneWorld of Seattle kept up their fight at the top of the leaderboard as challenger racing resumed Tuesday after an extended, weather-forced break at the America's Cup.

	Alinghi of Switzerland has found smooth sailing, both on the water Tuesday, and in the points standings.

Alinghi beat Mascalzone Latino of Italy by 2 minutes, 11 seconds, and OneWorld beat Britain's GBR Challenge by 1:05 as second-round racing resumed after a four-day postponement for high winds off Auckland.

The Swiss and Seattle syndicates both have 10 victories from 11 races, but OneWorld trails by one point due to a point deduction for a pre-regatta rules violation.

In other matches Tuesday, Sweden's Victory Challenge beat Stars & Stripes of New York by 13 seconds and defending challenger series champion Prada of Italy beat Le Defi of France by 1:04.

Victory Challenge beat Mascalzone Latino by 1:17 in an afternoon race, but three other afternoon matches, scheduled to make up for the lost race days, were postponed after a clash between Prada and Le Defi in the morning and gear damage sustained by Stars & Stripes.

Stars & Stripes was scheduled to race Oracle in the afternoon but was granted a postponement because of damage to its headsail track from morning racing.

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison would have missed the race. Five days after he fired match racing world champion Peter Holmberg five days to install New Zealander Chris Dickson as skipper, Dickson told Ellison to stay ashore and recalled Holmberg as helmsman.

"We have a policy of rotating the crew and Mr. Ellison is not part of the team today," an Oracle spokeswoman said. "Chris Dickson is the skipper and that is the crew he has selected."

The program for the second round of challenger racing was further disrupted when Prada and Le Defi were granted postponements Tuesday because of gear damage.

Two flights of races, a total of eight matches, were scheduled Tuesday to make up for the time lost when racing was postponed Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday because of high winds.

Prada and Le Defi sustained gear damage Tuesday during their race that was sailed in winds averaging 17 knots.

Le Defi had been scheduled to meet Britain's GBR Challenge in the afternoon and Prada was to meet challenger leader Alinghi in an interesting match Tuesday. Both races were postponed to an undetermined date.

Prada had winch damage and Le Defi damaged its mast. Both teams invited umpires on board at the end of their morning race to inspect damage and rule on their postponement applications.

The damage appeared to occur almost simultaneously on the first leg of the match.

Only two matches remained to be sailed Tuesday: Oracle of San Francisco vs. Stars & Stripes and Victory vs. Mascalzone Latino.
