Now here to present the award for most convincing acting performance in sports is Texas Rangers shortstop Alex Rodriguez.

The nominees are ...

Hasim Rahman
For impersonating a heavyweight champion during his brief rematch with Lennox Lewis.

Brett Favre
For impersonating a professional football player as Michael Strahan tackled him for his NFL record-breaking 22nd sack of last season.

Jerry Colangelo
For running up mountains of near-ruinous debt in "building" a World Series champion and yet having the moxie to say about The Boss after he convinced David Wells to renege on a promise to sign with the Diamondbacks: "I think what Steinbrenner did was not appropriate. ... A partner in our own business encourages a player to break a commitment. You talk about what's wrong with the game. That's wrong."

Derek Jeter
For his self-deprecating performance as host of "Saturday Night Live," which couldn't be easy for a handsome, rich, well-spoken polite four-time world champ who dumped Mariah Carey ... and then stepped up in class with Miss Universe.

Elvis Grbac
For impersonating a quarterback and leaving the annoying Brian Billick at a loss for words.

Danny Almonte
For his convincing performance -- without makeup -- as a 12-year-old.

George O'Leary
For impersonating a man with a good education and a dazzling résumé.
