It's award season, and we're adding to the parade of hardware with the first annual Academy of Page 2 People's Golden Choice Association Awards.

The ESPYs have been moved to summer, so Page 2 wanted to make sure many deserving sports personalities don't get left out.

An independent panel of former figure skating judges has verified our choices for finalists, and all of the awards have been certified by the accounting division of Arthur Andersen. We just need you to vote for a winner in each of the seven categories.

So let's begin with the awards. Here to present the nominees for best hissy-fit performance is former Yankees outfielder Paul O'Neill. The envelope, please ....

Theoren Fleury
If this award was given for a body of work, this would be Fleury's year. But his most notable tantrum occurred Jan. 5. After receiving his third slashing penalty of the game at Pittsburgh, Fleury stormed off the ice with 7:37 remaining in the contest.

Shaquille O'Neal
Against the lowly Bulls, Shaq just couldn't hack the hack-a-Shaq anymore. So after a hard foul, O'Neal took two roundhouse swings at center Brad Miller, who fortunately escaped unscathed.

Jim Mora
Who could ever forget the former Colts coach's rambling rant Nov. 25 after his team's pathetic performance in a 40-21 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. "That was a disgraceful performance. We threw that game away," Mora said referring to QB Peyton Manning's four interceptions. "Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs," Mora said. "Are you kidding me. Playoffs? I'm just hoping we can win a game, another game."

Nolan Richardson
With his team struggling at 13-13, the Arkansas men's basketball coach took offense to some white media members' speculation that it might be time for Richardson to pack up despite having led the Razorbacks to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances. "I've earned the right to have the season I've had. ... The No. 1 thing that's talked in our deal is that the greatest thing going for the University of Arkansas is Nolan Richardson. Secondly, all the key football players talk to Nolan Richardson. Why? ... My practices will be closed to the media from this day until I decide when I'll open it again, if I ever open it again while I am still the basketball coach here."

Kyle Turley
With Turley's Saints on a possible game-tying drive against the Jets, the offensive tackle took offense to New York safety Damien Robinson's overaggressive stop on New Orleans QB Aaron Brooks. Turley jumped on Robinson, prompted a shoving match and threw a Jets helmet downfield to draw a 15-yard penalty.

Mike Tyson
During a news conference to announce a bout with Lennox Lewis that would possibly be the most lucrative fight ever, Iron Mike left his podium got in Lewis' face and took a swing at one of Lewis' bodyguards. Lewis claims Tyson bit his thigh, and the fight is looking for a new location after being turned away by Nevada and other sites.

Leonid Tygachev
Near the end of a disappointing 2002 Winter Olympics in which Russian pairs figure skaters had to share gold medals with Canadians and Russian cross-country skiers failed drug tests, Tygachev claimed the Games were slanted in favor of North Americans and threatened to take his athletes and go home.
