C. He was imposing his own version of a salary cap.

D. On his salary of a mere $2.8 million per year, he could not afford to purchase enough jewelry to hold up his head while hangin' with the Saints' other wide receivers.

E. He knew coach Jim Haslett admired aggression, and he wanted Haslett to think more highly of him.
