Extra Yard for Teachers
ESPN also uses its storytelling platform to celebrate educators and coaches who shape the next generation.
Through its partnership with the College Football Playoff Foundation, the Touchdown for Teachers initiative
delivered $250,000 in support to 468 teachers and coaches nationwide, helping fund sports, health and fitness
programs reaching nearly 11,700 students.
Teachers were also placed at the center of College GameDay during Extra Yard for Teachers Week. Surprise
recognitions, social storytelling and on-air features celebrated educators across the country, while a teacher
appreciation breakfast in Miami gave local teachers a special
presence within the show.
A particularly meaningful moment came when the College
Football Playoff Foundation honored College GameDay icon Lee
Corso by donating resources to his alma mater, Miami Jackson
Senior High School—an announcement made live on GameDay.
Local youth from Miami-Dade County Public Schools and
Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami joined ESPN’s Take Back Sports
and the College Football Playoff Foundation on the field at
the National Championship, highlighting how sports can
support education.
Wish Granting
Since 2006, ESPN has collaborated with Make-A-Wish to fulfill
sports-themed wishes for children with critical illnesses through the
weeklong “My Wish” series that airs on SportsCenter. Together with
Make-A-Wish, ESPN has produced 75 sports-themed wish features
to date, which air annually during a week in July, within various editions
of SportsCenter, other studio shows and on ESPN digital platforms.
The 2025 series features Wish kids spending meaningful time with
athletes and teams including Justin Jefferson, C.J. Stroud, Saúl
“Canelo” Álvarez, and the Savannah Bananas—creating unforgettable
moments that inspire hope and confidence.
The series aired across multiple SportsCenter broadcasts and ESPN
digital channels, extending the reach of each story and inspired
audiences through the universal connection between sports and
community.
Disney is proud to be the world’s largest wish granter for Make-A-Wish,
granting a wish every hour of every day.
$3M was invested by the CFP Foundation’s conference partners in programming
to help educators in 2025-2026.
The College Football Playoff Foundation utilizes multiple partnerships
