READING, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- David Miller's three-run homer
highlighted a six-run ninth inning as the Akron Aeros stormed
past the Reading Phillies, 7-6. Miller, who went 3-for-4,
followed Ryan Jones' RBI single to bring Arkon within one run at
6-5. Chris Coste raced home on a passed ball to tie the score at
6-6 and Brian Whitlock hit a run-scoring single to give the
Aeros their first lead of the game. Mike Edwards went 2-for-4 to
extend his hitting streak to 15 games for Akron, which has won
four of six against Reading. Andy Dominique smacked a pair of
RBI doubles and Clemente Alvarez knocked in two runs for the
Phillies, who have dropped five of their last eight games. Rusty
McNamara, who has hit safely in 13 straight games, and Skip Kill
each homered for Reading. Jim Dedrick (1-0) struck out two in 1
1/3 innings of relief to pick up the win and Cam Cairncross
retired both batters he faced to notch his first save. Reliever
Thomas Jacquez (0-2) gave up one hit, two runs and two walks in
one inning to take the loss for the Phillies.
