TACOMA, Washington (Ticker) -- Tom Davey pitched six scoreless innings and Brian Lesher hit a two-run homer as the Tacoma Rainiers blanked the Las Vegas Stars, 2-0, in the first game of a doubleheader. Davey (3-3) allowed just three hits and a pair of walks, striking out seven, to pick up the win. Todd Williams preserved the shutout and picked up his eighth save despite loading the bases in the seventh inning. Lesher hit his team-leading ninth homer in the fourth inning for Tacoma, which improved to 4-2 over its last six games. Junior Herndon (4-2) went the distance, allowing two runs and three hits, but was saddled with the loss, just the fourth for Las Vegas in its last 18 games.
