MOBILE, Ala. -- In preparation for the 2003 Senior Bowl, ESPN.com sat down with Kentucky running back Artose Pinner to get his take on everything from his favorite football moment to his musical tastes as he prepares for a professional football career.
Artose Pinner: It would have to be the game against Middle Tennessee State this year when I broke two tackles, then spun off two tackles, lost my shoe on the 30-yard line and still went in for the touchdown. That was definitely memorable. 2. What three CDs are getting the most play in your stereo? Pinner: I listen to a lot of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. Since both those guys have passed away, I have to mix in a little gospel with that. You need something to uplift your spirits after listening to the first two. 3. What do you think will be the biggest difference between college and pro football? Pinner: Getting the offensive scheme down. Learning the different terminology will be the main thing. Coming from the SEC, I've faced a lot of speed, so speed won't be the issue. 4. What's the best and worst part of gameday? Pinner: The best is winning the game. The worst is waiting for the game -- especially when you have to spend five or six hours in the hotel waiting for a 7:00 p.m. start. 5. Do you think there should be a Division I-A playoff? Pinner: No not really. The fans get excited about the bowl games. Having a bowl game every other day is great, plus the bowls separate college game from the NFL. 6. If you could change one thing about college football, what would it be? Pinner: It's players getting paid. Some kids struggle just to be able to go to the movies. Getting your education paid for is great, but the players should get a little money too. 7. If you had to play on the other side of the ball, what position would you want to play? Pinner: Outside linebacker. I played it in high school and just love the opportunity to hit someone. 8. If you couldn't play football, what sport would you pursue? Pinner: Tennis. It was one of my first sports, but no one in my neighborhood played tennis. Switching over to football seemed like the thing to do. 9. What player at the Senior Bowl are you looking forward to being on the field with? Pinner: It would be Larry Johnson. Since he's a guy at my position and is considered the best, I want to see how he works and what the difference is between us. 10. What's your first big purchase after signing a pro contract? Pinner: I'll get my mom a house. First and foremost, I'm going to take care of her. For more information on the 2003 Senior Bowl, go to the official site. |
