1991: Huskies' fourth-down drama

As No. 4 Washington (1-0) trailed No. 9 Nebraska 21-16 in the fourth quarter, Washington stalled at the Nebraska 31, facing fourth-and-8. Huskies coach Don James was so conservative that offensive coordinator Keith Gilbertson, expecting a punt, took a bathroom break. James, feeling the game slip away, went for the first down. Quarterback Billy Joe Hobert completed a 16-yard slant to Orlando McKay. On the next play, Beno Bryant scored. Washington scored 20 unanswered points to win 36-21. -- Maisel
