Unfinished Business

1994: Big Red's Orange Bowl redemption

In a twist of fate, Florida State's Bobby Bowden won his first national title in 1993, when Nebraska's Byron Bennett missed a 45-yard field goal on the final play of the Seminoles' 18-16 victory in the 1994 Orange Bowl. But Cornhuskers coach Tom Osborne would have to wait only 365 days to win his first national title. The Cornhuskers returned to the same field and beat Miami 24-17 in the 1995 Orange Bowl. Osborne's first title didn't come easily. The Cornhuskers used three quarterbacks -- after starter Tommie Frazier and backup Brook Berringer were injured -- in finishing 13-0. -- Schlabach
