How you beat Hedberg
How you beat Kolzig
You can beat him by going hard to the net on jam plays around the posts. He is not the strongest guy, and maintaining position is hard at the NHL level. He is inexperienced against the NHL's best shooters, the kind of players he will face in the playoffs.
You can beat him through the legs. It is the only place available because he is so big. He has a tendency to drop his glove lower as you get closer, so with patience, you could see some room up high.
How Hedberg beats you
How Kolzig beats you
He can beat you with his solid crease movement and extremely sound technical positioning on top of his crease. He has good control of his rebounds and likes to roam; he watched tapes of Ron Hextall shooting pucks as he prepared for his NHL chance. He has the least amount of NHL experience among the playoff goalies, but do not underestimate his calmness under fire and his experience and success at the minor-league level.
He beats you with a very quick glove and good lateral movement that covers so much net from post to post. He is a gamer who never seems to get out of rhythm, even if he gives up a bad goal. He's very strong mentally and a leader.
