McMAHON: Ted, remember what you told me when you started up World Championship Wrestling, to rival my World Wrestling Federation?

TURNER: I believe so.

McMAHON: You called and told me you were getting into the wrestling business! And I told you ...

TURNER (droning): ... that was fine. Because, you said, you're in the entertainment business.

McMAHON: That's right! Do you think Stone Cold Steve Austin has any illusion that he is an athlete first when he's in the ring? No! He's an actor first, no less so than DeNiro! The key is that we don't ask our wrestlers to play roles that are out of their realm -- do you want to tell me the brand of intimidation that The Rock practices is much different than what he learned with the Miami Hurricanes?

TURNER: Stop screaming, Vince.

McMAHON: The same principle applies in Hollywood. Some of the best performances by athletes were those in which they played not themselves, but fictional characters that came naturally to them.

TURNER: And the Oscar goes to ...
