What was Enron chairman Kenneth Lay thinking when he decided not to testify before Congress?

Kenneth Lay
Perhaps Kenneth Lay, right, is just trying to hold onto his good seats for Astros games.
A. He didn't want to publicly soil his impeccable reputation.

B. He saw what happened to Bud Selig when the commish testified before Congress.

C. He didn't want to take a chance on losing his seat in Enron's 14-person luxury suite at Enron Field, a suite Enron, despite its near-terminal economic woes, recently paid $108,000 for.

D. He was afraid that some congressmen are major Enron stockholders.

E. His date to testify conflicted with a previously scheduled document-shredding party he had committed to attend -- and an Enron executive always keeps his word.

F. C-SPAN refused to agree not to show his face -- a la gangster Frank Costello during the Kefauver organized crime hearings in the '50s.
