RECAP
BOWIE, Maryland (Ticker) -- Adam Hyzdu went 4-for-5 with a pair
of home runs and seven RBI as the Altoona Curve pounded the
Bowie Bay Sox, 16-7. Hyzdu capped a four-run third inning with a
two-run single, hit a two-run homer in both the fifth and
seventh innings and ripped a run-scoring double in the eighth.
Rob Mackowiak added four RBI, including a three-run homer to
highlight a five-run eighth inning, for Altoona, which won for
just the third time in its last nine contests. Alexander
Hernandez went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs knocked in and three
runs scored for the Curve. Steve Sparks (1-2) allowed five runs
-- four earned -- and nine hits, striking out four, in five
innings for the win. Darnell McDonald hit a two-run single and
David Gibralter hit a solo homer for Bowie, which suffered just
its second loss in its last eight ballgames. Jeff Wilson (3-1)
surrendered eight runs -- four earned -- and seven hits in 4 1/3
innings for the loss.
