BINGHAMTON, New York (Ticker) -- Dan Held drew a bases-loaded
walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to score the winning run
as the Binghamton Mets edged the New Britain Rock Cats, 6-5.
Held capped a three-run inning when his base-on-balls score Mo
Bruce. Bruce had a pair of hits, including a two-run double in
the ninth, and scored three runs for Binghamton. Mike Kinkade
went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI singles for the Mets, who have
won five of their last seven games. Rod Henderson (1-0) struck
out a pair over a perfect eighth and ninth for the win. Tommy
Peterson hit a two-run homer and A.J. Pierzynski ripped three
doubles and scored three runs for New Britain. Steve Huls' RBI
single in the sixth inning supplied the Rock Cats with a 5-3
lead. Joe Marshall (1-1) surrendered three runs and four hits,
walking a pair, in 2/3 of an inning for the loss, New Britain's
fifth straight road loss.
