RECAP
TRENTON, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Tony Derosso hit a pair of
homers and Paxton Crawford threw eight strong innings as the
Trenton Thunder beat the Altoona Curve, 5-2. Derosso hit a
two-run homer in the fourth inning and added a solo shot in the
eighth. Crawford (2-2), who retired the first 14 batters he
faced, took a two-hit shutout into the ninth inning. Crawford
(2-2), who struck out eight without walking a batter, allowed
hits to the first two batters he faced in the ninth before
exiting. Garry Maddox contributed an RBI single for Trenton,
which won for just the second time in its last five games. Rob
Mackowiak hit an RBI single and Derrick Lankford had a
run-scoring groundout in the ninth inning for Altoona. Steve
Sparks (1-3) surrendered four runs and eight hits in 6 2/3
innings to take the loss, the Curve's third in their last five
games.
