YANTIC, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Marcus Thames scored the
go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning on an error and
Drew Henson drove in three runs as the Norwich Navigators edged
the Bowie BaySox, 9-8. Thames, who ripped an RBI double in the
third inning, scored to give Norwich its margin of victory when
shortstop Ivanon Coffie committed his ninth miscue of the
season. Henson highlighted a seven-run third inning with a
three-run triple and Victor Valencia capped the scoring in the
frame with two-run homer for the Navigators, who have won three
straight. Winning pitcher Domingo Jean (2-0) allowed a run and
two hits in two innings and Joe Lisio recorded the final out to
post his first save of the season. Carlos Casimiro and Rick
Short both had a two-run single during an eight-run seventh
inning for Bowie, which lost for just the fourth time in nine
games. David Gibralter added a two-run double in the eighth,
tying the score at 8-8 for the BaySox. Terry Rosenkranz (0-1)
yielded an unearned run, one hit and two walks in 1 2/3 innings
to suffer the loss.
