NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Luis Rivas and Bobby Kielty
each drove in a pair of runs to lead the New Britain Rock Cats
to a 6-4 victory over the Reading Phillies. Rivas hit a
sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and broke a 3-3 tie with an
RBI single in the sixth. Kielty hit a solo homer in the bottom
of the first inning and drew a bases-loaded walk during the
three-run sixth. Tommy Peterman went 3-for-4 and A.J. Pierzynski
singled in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 11
games for New Britain, which won its second in a row after
dropping 12 of 16. Peter Fisher (2-2) allowed three runs and
seven hits in six innings to pick up the win and Brent Stentz
notched his fourth save despite giving up a run and two hits in
the ninth. Brian Harris doubled twice and drove in a pair of
runs for Reading, which lost for the fifth time in its last six
road games. Geoff Geary (0-2) surrendered six runs and 12 hits
over five innings to suffer the loss.
