NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Matt Kinney combined with David Hooten on a five-hitter as the New Britain Rock Cats blanked the Reading Phillies, 6-0. Kinney (2-0) yielded five hits, walked three and struck out four over six innings to pick up the win. Hooten fanned three batters over three hitless innings for his first save of the season. Luis Rivas went 3-for-5 with a pair of two-baggers, including an RBI double in fifth inning, for New Britain. Shane Gunderson led off the fourth inning with a home run for the Rock Cats, who have won three straight games. Kris Stevens (5-2), who had won his previous five starts, surrendered five runs and nine hits in five innings to suffer the loss.
