EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- Stubby Clapp drove home the
game-winning run in the 10th inning as the Memphis Redbirds
downed the Edmonton Trappers, 2-1. Clapp hit a two-out, infield
single to score pinch-runner Jason Wolf. Jose Rodriguez (2-0)
recorded three strikeouts in 1 1/3 hitless innings for the win
and Gene Stechschulte retired all three batters he faced for his
third save. Lou Lucca had an RBI single in the second inning for
Memphis, which improved to 6-2 on its current road trip. Jason
Karnuth started for the Redbirds and allowed just one run and
seven hits in seven innings but was not involved in the
decision. Brett Hinchliffe (0-2) gave up one run and two hits in
1 2/3 innings to take the loss. Starter Scot Shields gave up
just one run and three hits, striking out six, for Edmonton,
which dropped to 6-8 at home.
