CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Amaury Garcia went 3-for-3 with a
homer and a pair of RBI and Reid Cornelius tossed six solid
innings as the Calgary Cannons downed the Nashville Sounds, 4-2.
Garcia, who last homered on Opening Day, launched a solo shot in
the third inning and capped a three-run third inning with an RBI
double. Cornelius (1-1), who helped his own cause by stroking a
two-run single in the fourth inning, allowed just one run and
four hits to notch his first win in six starts. Luis Raven went
2-for-4 and Mike Gulan singled and scored for Calgary, which
improved to 3-1 against Nashville. John Wehner hit a solo homer
and Jarrod Patterson smacked an RBI double for the Sounds, who
have lost three straight games. Losing pitcher Chris Peters
(1-2) yielded three runs -- two earned -- and four hits in three
innings.
