OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- Ruben Sierra hit a game-winning single
in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Oklahoma Redhawks
a 3-2 victory over the Omaha Golden Spikes. Cliff Brumbaugh led
off the inning with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice
bunt by Chris Demetral, moved to third on a passed ball and
scored when Sierra singled after Jon Shave was intentionally
walked. Jonathan Johnson (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings of
relief to get the win. Ryan Glynn started and gave up two runs
and six hits over seven strong innings for Oklahoma, which has
won six of its last seven games. Tim Byrdak (1-2) took the
loss, allowing one run -- none earned -- and two hits during his
1 1/3 innings of relief. Jeff Austin, making his first start
after being promoted from Double-A Wichita, pitched five innings
and allowed two runs -- none earned -- and six hits for Omaha,
which has lost eight consecutive games.
