HOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Houston Rockets try for a fourth
straight home win Tuesday night when they host the resurgent
Boston Celtics.
Houston is trying to move two games over .500 for the first time
since December 19. The Rockets last played in a 92-80 win over
Cleveland on Saturday. Steve Francis had a career-high six 3-pointers on his way to 35
points along with 10 rebounds as Houston improved to 16-4
against teams from the Eastern Conference. Cuttino Mobley added
26 points as he and Francis combined to make 20-of-38 shots. Francis is averaging 25.3 points over his last seven games.
Boston has been playing well despite a 114-99 loss at Utah on
Monday. The Celtics fell to 2-2 on a seven-game Western
Conference road trip and saw their modest two-game winning
streak come to an end. Antoine Walker scored 27 points and Paul Pierce had 22, but the
Celtics got pounded on the boards, 55-28. Boston is 12-7 under
coach Jim O'Brien. The loss dropped Boston to just percentage points ahead of
Indiana in the race for the eighth and final playoff spot in the
Eastern Conference. Boston won the first meeting between the teams, 96-81, on
November 22 as Pierce scored 16 and Walker had 13.
