What was the NFL thinking?

What the heck was the NFL thinking when it denied Peyton Manning's request to honor the late Johnny Unitas by wearing black hightops?

Johnny Unitas tribute
Peyton Manning didn't get the chance to walk in Johnny Unitas' shoes.
A. "Our tribute, an attempt to have him cryogenically frozen in the shape of the Colts horseshoe, is far more appropriate."

B. "If Peyton truly wants to honor Johnny Unitas, he should increase his touchdown-to-interception ratio."

C. "Helll-ooooh. Like, everyone knows black, navy blue and artificial green clash."

D. "We've already been saddled with the unflattering label, 'The No Fun League.' We're not about to add 'The No Fashion League.'"

E. "If we say yes, then our tribute idea of having Kelly Clarkson sing the national anthem inside a giant black hightop at the Super Bowl will be ruined."

F. "It'd be one thing if the Colts were from Baltimore, but that's just not the case, now is it?"
