METAIRIE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Raul Chavez capped a five-run
sixth inning with a two-run single as the New Orleans Zephyrs
defeated the Omaha Golden Spikes, 7-5. Chavez singled home James
Betzsold and Omar Ramirez to give New Orleans a 7-3 lead.
Betzsold and Ramirez both drew a bases-loaded walk in the big
inning for the Zephyrs, who have won three straight games. Brian
Powell (1-1) allowed three runs and four hits in six innings,
striking out five, to pick up the win. Brad Kaufman fanned two
in a perfect ninth for his second save. Goef Tomlinson went
2-for-2 with a pair of RBI and Izzy Molina belted a solo homer
for Omaha, which has lost three in a row. Archie Corbin (0-2)
was saddled with the loss, surrendering four runs and four walks
while failing to record an out.
